Jesus Christ is The PERFECT LEADER!

1. Inspirational Vision

Jesus is the most 'Inspirational' Leader because he addressed his followers 'In- Spirit'! He inspired people with a vision of when the naked will be clothed and the hungry would be fed when God reigns! He's the only person with such a great and encompassing vision that transcends time, culture and mind!

2. Discipline is Wisdom

Jesus operated from a base of fixed principles or truths rather than making up the rules as he went along. He walked and worked with those he was to serve.
His leadership style was not only correct, but also constant.

3. Humbly Listen

Jesus was a listening leader. He loved others with a perfection and listened without being condescending. He listened with patience, gentleness and wisdom.

4. Peace is Power

Jesus is known as The Prince of Peace. According to scripture He was able to calm a storm by mere words. When Peter drew his sword and smote the high priest’s servant, cutting off his right ear, Jesus said, “Put up thy sword into the sheath” (John 18:11).

5. Teach

Jesus lived a life that dynamic, he had many apostles and he grew His ministry following the words: "Be fruitful and multiply." His words let to a revolution in the hearts and souls of men that we still feel until today.
He reproved and rebuked Peter in love and wisdom as part of the construction of a church. A church that still stands today amidst persecution based on the Teachings of Jesus of Nazareth.

Many people only focus on the 12 disciples, yet Jesus had over 72 other followers! He was truly charismatic and enigmatic to all the people he led. He was so engaging that he was followed by 5000 men without a microphone or a twitter account. They left everything to the extent that he fed them miraculously!

6. Love

No man has such a love like His, that he died for the world's sins!
He is completely selfless and filled with altruism that led him to humble himself to death on a tree! Love is the dominant trait of his leadership and it's so infectious and powerful that he still lived by that spirit today!

7. Humility

It is Jesus that said whoever is the be the greatest among you must first be least. His teachings echo the truth: Leadership is service.

He was a servant to the world to the extent of washing the feet of his disciples. The man of Galilee shows love when the world portrays hate, power when we feel weak and hope when we are in doubt.

8. Jesus prayed every day.

Above all, Jesus submitted to the Spirit of God through daily prayer!

  • “After he had dismissed them, he went up on a mountainside by himself to pray.” –Matthew 14:23
  • “Then Jesus went with his disciples to a place called Gethsemane, and he said to them, ‘Sit here while I go over there and pray.’” –Matthew 26:36
  • “Very early in the morning, while it was still dark, Jesus got up, left the house and went off to a solitary place, where he prayed.” –Mark 1:35
  • “But Jesus often withdrew to lonely places and prayed.” –Luke 5:16
  • “One of those days Jesus went out to a mountainside to pray, and spent the night praying to God.” –Luke 6:12
  • “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.” –Luke 18:1

Charismatic Leadership Lesson from Desmond Tutu

“I am a leader by default, only because nature does not allow a vacuum.” Desmond Tutu

Archbiship Desmond Tutu
Desmond Tutu was a bishop in the Anglican Church who worked to end apartheid in South Africa.
After the end of apartheid Tutu continued to work to ensure a democratic South Africa with freedom for all and he advocated for justice everywhere in the world.

Desmond Tutu is a man of immense moral authority and one of a few world leaders who retained their views regardless of the changing surrounding circumstances. He became the voice of black South Africa under apartheid.

Charismatic and Transformational leaders provide the world with a motivating sense of identity by presenting and articulating a VISION.

Charismatic leaders assess the external environment to find weaknesses in the status quo, attracting followers by presenting an appealing vision that seems radically different from the current status quo.

Transformational leaders motivate followers through personal development and intellectual stimulation.

Desmond Tutu strikes a balance between Charismatic and transformational leadership.

In his words:

1. To Be a Leader, First Gain Trust -
You have to build up a fund of credibility. If you are going to be a leader, you must have a record where people saw you are standing up against injustice at a risk.

2. Luminaries build credibility by acting with integrity -

A leader is someone you are not disappointed in placing trust in. They would generally be people who are ready to take the risks themselves. They are listening to him because he has communicated that he is ready to put his life on the line.

George Washington - The Visionary Leader

George Washington, first president
The most commonly cited characteristic given for his emergence as the supreme leader is his character.

Washington was chosen for these leadership roles because of his character and also because of his being a genius in the area of leadership.

A visionary leader is a person who attracts others to follow him/her in seeking attainment of the vision. More than that, this charismatic person is able to instill ideas, beliefs and values of the vision in others so that they become empowered to move beyond the leader’s and their own expectations.

1. The visionary leader has crystal clear and far-reaching vision in regard to the cause or organization involved.

This vision has goals and ideas that remain constant regardless of time or obstacles the leader encounters along the way.

The leader never allows any of the means or actions along the way to violate or invalidate this vision and its constituent values.

Washington walked the talk: he served as commander of the Continental Army without pay and was nearly bankrupt by the time he returned home to Mount Vernon after serving as the country’s first president.
On one occasion when his soldiers wanted to overthrow the wartime government and set up Washington to lead the country, he made it clear that the thought of overthrowing the colonial American government was repulsive and he'd never consider it!

2. Washington was confident, yet humble. His humility was reflected in the way he gave people a voice by seeking and considering their opinions and ideas. Washington lived and worked with brilliant philosophers, thinkers, writers, orators and organizers, such as Franklin, Mason, John and Sam Adams, Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Hamilton, Madison, Dickinson, the Randolphs and the Lees, almost all of whom were far better educated than he.
Historians have noted that during the Constitutional Convention over which Washington presided, he rarely said a word other than to intervene and make decisions to break a logjam in the deliberations.

3. The visionary leader is skillful in designing and creating an organizational culture which will make the attainment of the leader’s vision and ideas possible. Creating this organizational culture may be the most lasting contribution of the leader because it'll consist of the enduring values, vision and beliefs shared by members of the organization.

10 Leadership Lessons from Nelson Mandela

1. Be the Change you want to see!

(Being a leader calls for greater integrity, like Madiba, you have to lead by example and make a track where none has ever walked before.)

2. Choose collaboration over retaliation

3. Always speak the truth

4. Patience

5. Courage is not the absence of fear – inspire others to move beyond it.

(Showing team members that you aren’t intimidated by the
challenge will inspire them to overcome challenges.)

6. Lead from the back.

(Don’t get into a power play over who is the leader. Persuade
uncooperative team members to take responsibility and make them
think it’s their idea.)

7. Know Your Enemy- find something your adversary is interested in.

(By finding a topic or activity a potential adversary is interested in
and becoming knowledgeable of that subject, you can open a
dialogue that can lead to a willingness to listen and possible
acceptance of your ideas.)

7.2 Keep Your Friends Close and Your Rivals Even Closer.

(Using charm and friendliness is more effective than direct
confrontation or acting bossy. By treating “adversaries” with the
same respect you treat your friends, you will gain their trust and
hopefully their loyalty.)

8. Nothing is black or white.

(Some situations are full of contradictions and competing interests.
Every problem has many causes and many solutions. Realizing this
allows you to keep an open mind to the possibilities and preserve
the participation of everyone involved.)

9. Lead from the front.

(Once given the role of a leader, it is a position to be respected,
especially by you. It is important that you don’t get too far ahead of
your base supporters who put their faith in you.)

10. Appearances Matter—and remember to smile.

(Similar to “Don’t let them see you sweat,” a smile can be very
disarming. People who use intimidation to get an edge on a
situation usually don’t expect a response, and if they do, they
usually expect their rival to respond in kind with intimidation.
Acting unfazed and even friendly to a rival sends a message that
you’re not intimidated; you are confident and in control.)
